PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2008-present Gallery Director, Staniar Gallery, Washington & Lee University, Lexington, VA • Implementing an exhibit schedule of 7-12 exhibitions over the course of each academic year for this 1,300 square-foot gallery. Responsibilities involve managing all aspects of the exhibition process including overseeing budgets, coordinating shipment of artwork, installation and deinstallation, producing all public relations materials, exhibition announcements and catalogues, artist travel and lodging arrangements and reception planning. • Coordinate the visiting artist program programming to serve the curricular aims of the Art Department and the University. • Direct gallery interns within the context of an academic course with learning objectives covering curatorial approaches, art handling and exhibitions management.
2006-2008 Curator, Waynesboro Heritage Foundation, Waynesboro, VA • Responsible for all aspects of Museum exhibitions including research, exhibit text and graphics, and exhibit design for the 1,500 square-foot of permanent exhibition space and also the 500 square foot revolving gallery, which changed exhibits every 3 months. • Developed the mission, collections policies and cataloguing procedures for the Foundation’s permanent collection of over 1,000 historical artifacts, photographs and documents. • Co-managed a capital campaign that successfully raised over $100,000 through private donations and city and state funding over the course of two years.
