In the "folios" set of drawings, I take pages from found/discarded books and black out all the letters on the pages, leaving only the letters that spell out the text of "Waiting for Godot." Implicit in this act is the impossibility of its completion. Like the characters in the play, I am performing repetitive and ultimately fruitless actions in the process of looking for an indeterminate meaning, which may be impossible to discover. But in that process, meaning (as purpose and adherence to an invented system) is created as a by-product of the very experience.

Redact all the text on the found book pages excepting the letters that spell out the dialogue for "Waiting for Godot." The first line of the play is: "Nothing to be done."
